A proud lawyer and founder of two schools: BVS Colleges in La Trinidad, Benguet, and Fuzeko Polytecnic College in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.

It was his vision since college to establish training centers to help the many of the out of school youths learn skills and get employed. He said, “It was my basic knowledge in Farm Mechanics and Industrial Arts, and support from friends, that enabled me to achieve my dream”, and of course, for being a lawyer, he knows the legalities in establishing institutions.

Together with his wife, Corazon (a classmate in college), they established the La Trinidad Technical Institute in 1973. In 1977 the school was expanded and became BVS Training Center. With more courses offered, it metamorphosed into BVS Colleges. The school is CHED accredited with TESDA accredited courses offered.

To help more out of youths, he erected another vocational school in Nueva Vizcaya called Fuzeko Polytechnic College in 1981. It is also TESDA accredited.

Many of their graduates worked oversees ever since the schools were opened as it was during those years that Filipinos were allowed to work overseas. Foremost, hundreds of their graduates qualify in the National Certification Examinations given by TESDA.

Atty. Somyden is one of the active leaders of BSU Alumni Association. He became the Chairman of the Board from 1969-1970. He chaired the committee that drafted the Constitution and By-Laws of the Association that still exist with some amendments.
