As Director of PNP Anti-kidnapping Group, there was decline of kidnapping incidents in the country such as neutralization of the Waraywaray kidnap for ransom group, the resolution of high-profile kidnapping cases of American nationals, and confiscation of volumes of high-powered firearms and ammunitions. His various accomplishments earned him promotion as Lieutenant Colonel and later as Brigadier General earlier than his peers.

He became Deputy Regional Director for Administration of PRO6, Deputy Regional Director for the Operation of PRO 4A, Police Provincial Director of Camarines Norte, Chief of the Luzon Field Unit, and Chief of the Intelligence Research and Analysis Division in AKG.

He received the prestigious PNP Lakan Award, Best Area Field Officer of the Year, Outstanding PCO of the Year, and “Medalya ng Pagtulong sa Nasalanta” among others. He said “My dedication to service and love of country is my driving force in all my endeavors, and I vowed to enforce the law without fear or favor as long as I am in service.” The discipline he imposed upon himself and those of his men distinguished him as the silent operator who is feared by criminals but respected by his subordinates.

Brig. Gen. Dimas is the son of Prof. Benjamin Dimas, who worked for the success of the Agroforestry Project and Evelyn Botengan, a chemistry teacher at BSU. All his siblings are also BSU alumni. He has two children with Christine Minong.
