Dr. Camarao is a Ph.D. in Entomology and one of the few noted entomologists in the country on corn borer management. She is an academician, an environmentalist, a scientist, and an avid writer, particularly on capability building and resource management. One overseas project she had as a consultant was on the National Estate Crops in Indonesia funded by Asian Development Bank.

In her ardent desire to improve the educational system in the country, she volunteered to prepare the “SUC Profile Update from 1987- 2003” of the 111 SUCs (5 volumes and 3,000+ pages), which serves as a reference of SUCs, CHED, Congress, Senate, and Department of Budget and Finance. She prepared feasibility studies on the establishment of institutions such as the TUP-Open University, Integrated Center for Vocational and Technical Training for Muslim Filipinos, and UP Mindanao Museum of Natural History.

She served various SUCs: Visayas State University, Mindanao Institute of Technology, University of Southern Mindanao, UP Mindanao, and the Technological University of the Philippines. She received various awards, among them, an Outstanding Scientific Research by DA-BAR, and Most Outstanding Entomologist by the Philippine Association of Entomologists. She belongs to honor societies such as Phi Kappa in Science, Gamma Sigma Delta in Agriculture, and Phi Sigma in Biological Science.

With her husband, Dr. Fedeserio Camarao, they are writing “Our Family, Our Story” and continuing Discipleship Bible Studies. She said, “We believe, that where we are, is our mission field.”
