Awardees

The Alumni Awards

There are five categories of alumni awards. Previous awardees are not eligible for nomination in the same category where they were given awards.

  1. Lifetime Achievement Award. This is the highest award that shall be given to alumni who demonstrated extraordinary professional success and achievement in serving national and international institutions throughout his/her lifetime career.
  2. Most Distinguished Alumni Award. This is the second-highest award that shall be given to alumni who demonstrated extraordinary professional success and achievement and have brought the name of the university to the international arena over the last 15 years.
  3. Distinguished Alumni Award. This award shall be given to alumni who demonstrated extraordinary professional success and achievement over the span of their entire career and made significant contributions over the last 15 years at the local and/or national level to address contemporary issues but not limited to the Advancement of Science, Community development, Environmental protection, Good Governance, Enterprise Development, Technology Development, Peace and Order, Arts, Culture, and Sports. Executive heads of regional/national line agencies and national NGOs may be considered for this award without necessarily undergoing the evaluation process.
  4. Alumni Family Recognition Award
    1. Multi-generation Alumni Family Award. An alumni family that produced at least three (3) generations or more alumni at the college level as of the school year 2017-2018.
    2. Alumni Family Loyalty Award. An alumni family whose children (all, with at least five children) studied at the elementary to the college level.
    3. Oldest Surviving Alumni. This shall be given to the oldest alumni who are still alive during the search period.
    4. Oldest Surviving Teacher. This shall be given to the oldest teacher of BSU who is still alive during the search period.
  5. Special Awards
    1. Alumni Group Service Award. This shall be given to recognized/organized alumni associations/chapters that gave voluntary support or rendered exceptional service to the university and/or communities.
    2. Community Service Award. This shall be given to individual alumni in far-flung areas with exceptional service to the community but have remained unrecognized.

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR NOMINATION

  1. Duly accomplished Nomination Form.
  2. Brief description of the nominees’ bio-data highlighting outstanding achievements, and a list of awards (name of the award, name of agency giving the award, and date) deserving of recognition (not more than 2 pages).
  3. One ID photo (2.5” x 2.5”, white background).

NOMINATION GUIDELINE

  1. Nomination is open to all alumni of TFS, TAS, TNAS, MNAS, MNAC, MAC, MSAC, and BSU. Those currently serving as officers or members of the Board of Trustees of the association and/or University Search Committee are disqualified.
  2. Any member of the alumni may nominate as many qualified alumni as possible. Self-nomination is allowed.
  3. The Nomination Forms are available at the BSU Alumni Office. It can be accessed through Facebook: BsuAlumni La Trinidad or alumni.association@bsu.edu.ph.

IMPORTANT DATES

  1. Accomplished nomination forms and supporting documents must be received on or before June 30 either by courier or through email or Facebook:

  2. Awardees shall be notified of the final awardees by the University that bestows the awards.
  3. All awardees are enjoined to attend the awarding ceremony on September 27 or as scheduled by the university.

THE SEARCH COMMITTEE

The Search Committee actively searches for nominees every year and meets at least once a year for the evaluation of the documents of nominees. They also review and revise the guidelines whenever necessary and submit a copy to the PRAISE Committee of the University.

CRITERIA FOR DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARDEES
(The criteria may be revised whenever necessary)

  1. Character (10pts)
    1. Model of morality both in private and in public life, that which is imbued with Christian values of compassion, confidence, competence, and commitment; and establish good human relations in the community.
  2. Leadership (85%)
    1. Head of well-known local, regional, national, or international institutions. (40pts)
      Or Introduced and implemented positive changes/ innovations to the
      development of the community in accordance with his or her professional
      expertise or vocation. (40pts)
    2. Received awards from local, regional, national, and/or international institutions/organizations. (25pts)
      Or Project leader/Manager of well-known local, regional, national, and/or international programs/projects. (25pts)
    3. Participated actively in various local, regional, national, and/or international activities and/or projects. (15pts)
    4. An active member in local, regional, national, and/or international organizations. (5pts)
  3. Service (5 pts).
    1. Performed one’s responsibilities and duties for the common good of the community.

CRITERIA FOR MULTI-GENERATION/FAMILY LOYALTY ALUMNI AWARD

  1. In the multi-generation award, at least four (4) of the children and grandchildren of alumni parent/s graduated from BSU at the College Level. In the family loyalty award, at least four of the children of alumnus graduated at BSU from elementary to BS or from BS to Ph.D. (85%).
  2. The family is a model of morality and volunteerism both in private and public life that is imbued with Christian values of compassion, confidence, competence, and commitment; and establishes good human relations in the community. This may be exemplified by the undertakings of any of the children such as designations/positions in institutions or in the community. (15%)

CRITERIA FOR OLDEST SURVIVING ALUMNI/OLDEST SURVIVING TEACHER

  1. Official proof of age based on the birth registry from the Philippine Statistics Agency or Local Registry. (85%)
  2. Model of morality and volunteerism. (15%)
