Frael is a seasoned sportsman and champion coaches to various sports like football, volleyball, and basketball earning him a “C” License Coaching Program, and an Accreditor for SPED Sports Program. Foremost, he is a staunch advocate for kids and youth development through sports.
As university coach and team manager, he brought BSU to the national limelight in the field of sports. BSU was SCUAA Champion in Men’s Football in 2012, and 3rd Runner-up in the same field in 2013 and 2016. Some of the BSU-trained kids and youth national football players are: Junell Mark Bautista of U17 Philippine Azkals, and Ariston Bocalan and Gatan Dalang as national coaches for U14 Philippine Football Team.
Frael initiated the development of BSU as Sports Management and Tourism Hub in 2000 through FRAMES, an Annual Summer Football Camp of the Aquino family. At one time, US Ambassador Kristie Anne Kenney led a Football Kick-off for the BSU elementary pupils.
As an officer of the Philippine Football Federation, Frael conceptualized the training of Philippine Football Teams (U15, U17, and Philippine Azkals) giving recognition to BSU as a venue for national football tournaments.
Undoubtingly, he received various awards in sports development such as Most Outstanding National PFF-KASIBULAN Instructor, Outstanding La Trinidad Citizen “Kayabang” Special Award, and Outstanding Volunteer of the Year by BSU.
